Never Give Up

November 1, 2016

One thing that I’ve learned in life is that when you are faced with adversity, you have to keep going; you can’t quit, even though it’s often your natural instinct to do so.  There are so many obstacles we encounter in life: health insurance premiums go up, rent increases, you get sick, a family member passes away, or you get into a bad relationship.  It’s easy to want to curl up in a little ball and not deal with the problem.  But to succeed is not some grand accomplishment; often, it just means you never quit and instead believe that it will get better.  With time, effort, focus, and faith, you can really overcome any obstacle.

I just found out today that my own health insurance premiums are going up by 40%.  I’m a healthy person, so that increase feels like a lot out of nowhere.  That means that that’s more money that I won’t have in my pocket.  It’s a tough reality, but I’m choosing not to give up.  I’m going to have to work harder, get better, be more innovative, provide more value to the market, and take a closer look at my budget.  I’m going to have to look for those areas where I can save money and reallocate it to where it’s needed.  This news is a challenge, but at the same time, it’s forcing me to get better.  Sometimes tackling a problem head on is all we need to get through it.

So when you’re feeling down, and you feel like giving up, just know that if you keep going, believe, and try to improve every day, you will succeed.
