One of the Best Fall Drives in Minneapolis

September 21, 2016

When fall is in full swing (tomorrow is officially the first day of autumn!), I love nothing more than being outside and admiring all the beautiful changing leaves.  Aside from the chain of lakes (which are always gorgeous in the fall), a personal favorite drive or bike route for me is along Minnehaha Creek.

This time of year, whenever I have to run an errand or be at a meeting, I check first to see if there's a path that runs past the creek.  There's something about following the trail as sunlight peeks between the slowly thinning branches and leaves slowly drift past your windshield.  On a warm fall day, there's nothing better.

This time of year is fleeting, it seems, though for most of us, it's also the best.  I wish sometimes that fall could last longer, that the reds, oranges, and yellows would stick around through Thanksgiving.  But I suppose there's also something magical about its shortness.  We all tend to want what's most rare in life, and fall is no exception.

Be sure to get out there and take advantage of this season, and if you haven't yet made Minnehaha Creek your drive of choice, give it a shot the next time you're in the area.  It's absolutely beautiful.
