Why Lake Hiawatha in South Minneapolis Is Better than Lake Calhoun

One of my favorite areas in South Minneapolis that is often forgotten about is 28th Ave S and Minnehaha Parkway. If you go just a couple of blocks north down 28th Ave, you get to the beach at Lake Hiawatha and it is so beautiful. This was actually a man-made lake (I think it was back in the 1930s). This area is getting a lot of traction right now, and there are a ton of great ongoing improvements.  I highly recommend the Standish or Ericsson neighborhoods as alternatives to Linden Hills and Fulton. Ericsson is just east of 28th Ave and north of the creek. You can have lake views for 1/3 of the price of Lake Calhoun views, and you still get 100% of the benefits of living in South Minneapolis. I think this area will do very well over the next 30 years.
